Book of References is an exhibition of research work carried out by Aidan Conway, MarMar Architects into the built environment of County Mayo
The book of references is composed of a number of structures, buildings and spaces from within the county of Mayo. Mapping their location. Surveying them. Analysing their construction, their form and their relation to the landscape (physical, historical or by toponym).
There was also an opportunity to take advantage of modern computational methods in order to carry out these surveys in immense detail. Through photogrammetric surveying Local surveyors Kilkelly Geo Spatial Solutions have guided me in the technical skills involved in composing 3D point cloud models of each Building/Structure/Space.
These detailed point cloud scans form the basis for a series of analytical and exploratory drawing and model studies of the subject. The scans led to a more careful looking at each structure, and in doing so prompted new ways of viewing, understanding and portraying them. The point cloud scans themselves have remained some of the most fascinating and the richest products of the study to date.
