Kreider + O‘Leary: Ungovernable Spaces

Kreider + O‘Leary
UNGOVERNABLE SPACES:  Lessons from Berlin and Belfast

Poet and architect duo, Kreider + O‘Leary, take a closer look at boundaries and borderlands in a performative exploration of how we might live together. For the past five years they have been building an archive related to the ‘peace walls’ and interface areas of Belfast (www.peacewall-archive.net). This performance lecture uses spoken word, video, image and live drawing to critically examine legacies of separation and division specifically in the cities of Berlin and Belfast. By charting the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, and comparing it with the current divisive state of the now fifty-year-old ‘peace walls’ across Belfast, we ask the question: “Will there ever be a Berlin moment in Belfast?”
